In 2004 the company produced the short film Cashback, which won 16 international film festival awards and was nominated for the 2006 Academy Award. Written and directed by Sean Ellis, Ugly Duckling Films went on to produce a feature-length version of Cashback in 2006, which was acquired by Gaumont.
