The Self-Sufficient is a Danish comedy web-series created by Helle Retbøll Carl that offers a different insight into women: from the societal constraints that confine women to be the perfect, always smiling mothers, to single women rejecting offers from fertility clinics because the sperm ‘just isn’t good enough’, The Self-Sufficient gives voice and expression to the sisterhood online. Be prepared: it bites.

The Self-Sufficient is part of CommunityWomen, a project set up by Community magazine founder Helle Retbøll Carl, Lars Stærbo and Lene Bausager to change the monoculture of female media and offer truly relevant, female-driven content.
